Writing practice

Today, 5th level students practice their writing skill using this creative idea: write about your alien.

They write about: 

- physical description, name, age... (using comparatives and superlatives)

- daily routines

- abilities

- family

- its homeplanet.

 Students look for information about an strange animal they choose. Then, they complete the report worksheet and make a brief description about it.

 Today, students do two different activities:

- First, the native speaker did a picture dictation. Students listen to the directions and draw what she said. We used vocabulary related to pirates and sea; and followed directions.

- Second, students write a short text about what they see through their spyglass.

Biography organizers

Students start to write their first biographies with the help of organizers. For this activity, we are going to use the cooperative technique 1-2-4.

• First, students read the same text (10 min) about a famous woman. They can underline main ideas and also take some notes.
•  Second, each student save their reading worksheet in their folders and start to complete the writing organizers. (8min)
• When they finish this part of the activity ( 6 min) , they work in pairs and do the same in order to complete their organizers with more information. 
• Finally, in gorups of 4, they add their charts with the information of the rest of their mates. (5 min)

           

They can use different color pens to complete their texts.

Vocabulary paper chains

4th level students create paper chains using lexis about food. The group who gets the longest chain, is the winner.

Suspects description

Students write about some suspects using "pair dictation technique". In pairs, students say a sentence to their mates and they write them down. They have to use comparatives in all their sentences.

In this challenge, students have to write an e-mail to the teacher talking about the following aspects:

• Complete the subject/asunto of the mail with the main idea of your email.
• In the first paragraph, introduce yourself: name, age, description (physical and personality)
• Second, write about your likes and dislikes.
• Then, write about one of  your friend and compare you with her /him.
• Finally, ask 3 questions to the teacher and say goodbye.
