Challenge: Reading is great!!

Beattrix Potter was a very important British writer. She loved animals and wrote about them. Today, you are going to discover some of her wonderful stories.
This challenge is a great opportunity to improve your reading and listening skills. Follow these instructions:

  • First, click on the link.
  • Second, Choose a story or stories.
  • Third, read and listen to the story.
  • Finally, send an e-mail to the teacher where you include:
    • Greetings ( hello...)
    • Your name and class
    • What is the name of the story you chose?
    • Did you like it? Why?
    • What is the story about?

Today, students write about their favorite books:
  • They explain why they like this book and its characteristics.
Then, they create a funny simple craft to show everybody how much they love this book.

Today, students participate in a very funny activity: Reading Scavengers. In groups, they have to find the information provided in different posters around the playground.
They read not only texts, but also inphographies, comics, jokes, biographies...

A salad of tales

Today, teacher Natalia brings to our class a very funny activity about story writing.
This activity provides:

  • Creativity
  • Writing practice
  • Cooperative work
  • story telling techniques...
Students, in groups, have to write a story following these instructions:

Then, they write down their stories including:
  • old objects provided
  • different mixed famous tale characters
  • choosing settings
  • the three different parts of a story: beginning, development or climax, and ending.


Happy book day

This week, we celebrate the "Book day" at school. Students talk about their favourite books, their reading habits....
The first activity we do in 5th level class, is to think about "how to be a good reader". Using the cooperative technique of rotating paper, students write down their ideas and share them with the rest of their classmates.

This is a great challenge because you need the collaboration of your family.

  1. First, choose a member of your family to do the challenge.
  2. Explain him or her this activity.
  3. Record a video asking about what  he/she is  doing and send it to the teacher by WhatsApp. In the video I have to see your question and his or her answer with the action.

Giving directions

As we are learning about "Around the World in 80 days" it is very important to talk about directions, cities... Let´s learn about it and practice!!

Playing boardgames

Students from 5th level practice present progressive  using this funny boardgame about actions. Children love playing and it provides great opportunities for real communication in class.

After playing boardgame, students do an activity to practice implementing and adding information to sentences. The teacher writes a very simple sentence in the blackboard and the students in groups, add information to the sentence.

Story cubes

Children create their own stories using these creative story cubes. They practice vocabulary and past simple tense in use.

They are very creative and love this activity because they create wonderful funny stories.

Cooperative technique: The Twins

Students will work in pairs. First, one student looking at the image, say one sentences to his / her classmate and he /she writes it down. After correcting the sentence, now it is the turn of the other friend to say a sentence and so on.

Listening test

Students listen to these different texts and answer the questions. Providing listening activities gives students the opportunity to develop the different skills. Listening an audio is, probably, one of the most difficult skill for students, so they need to practice it.

Challenge: creating stories

It´s Easter time and we have a long time to rest and enjoy. This challenge is really creative and it gives students the opportunity to be writers.

Let´s follow the instructions:
  1. Watch the tutorial video.
  2.  Go to Story bird Website.
  3. Sign up for free. Complete your file.
  4. Click on  Create .
  5. Choose an artwork.
  6. Choose multiple pages book.
  7. Create a cover for your book.
  8. Then , start writing about your story using the images at both sides.
  9. Next,  save your book.
  10. Finally, share it with the teacher:
    1. copy your story link
    2. send it by mail to the teacher.

Listening activities

Animals is a really interesting topic for our students. Providing listening and video watching activities is a great way for them to learn more about animals.

Comparative listening: Students in groups listen to some sentences and using small whiteboards they have to write down what they hear.
