Once they have done the listening activities, they practice giving personal information with a card speaking activity.

Initial test

 Today, students have had an initial test for them to know how is their English level at the beginning of the academic year. They click on the links and write their marks in their learning passport.

I can´t imagine my life without?

Sometimes, our lives can change just in a second. We live wonderful lives. We have everything we need. But what happens if everything changes?

This is the story of Cast away where Tom Hanks pretends to be a man who has to survive in a desert island after a plane accident.

After watching this short video, we discuss in class about it:

1.  - What happened in the story?
2. Was he a rich man?
3. How could he survive?
4. What was the most important thing for him?

Then students complete this worksheet about "I can´t imagine my life without..." where they write the people, objects, actions, hobbies... that are really important for them.

 

Vikings

 Vikings were great travellers and explorers. They loved to show their force and conquered new lands. Great Britain is a good example of it.

Introducting myself

In assembly, our students introduce themselves try to implement new information each time. They can´t repeat the same information their friends say.

This is a very simple example for them to see how to introduce themselves. During this week, students will practice giving personal information and at the end of the month they will record a video introducing themselves as in this example. It will be our challenge 1.

Dora meets Boots

 Dora is a great explorer. She lives incredible adventures with her best friend Boots. 

Students introduce themselves using a simple craft of a monkey.

Then, we learn about monkey characteristics and importance in our world.

Let´s start

 We are really excited about this project. To start  the teachers asks students about famous a explorers they know. 

Do you know any famous explorer? (Colombus, Indiana Jones...)

Do you like exploring?

Do you like walking in the mountains?

Then, we watch a short video about famous explorers and their important contribution to humanity.

 

We are going to prepare our folders doing a creative art activity where our students draw themselves as explorers.

Daily assembly

 Every day, when students enter the class we´ll do a short assembly. One student says the date and talk about the weather and his/her feelings.

To do this, we use this simple website.

Daily calendar

Then, we start the class using a question or showing an image to talk and discuss about it. The image is related to the topic we will study this day.

For our first English class, I have created a presentation (Canva) to present the subject, its skills...

Welcome back to school

 This school year, we will work on a wonderful project about "Great explorers".

- We will learn about famous male and female explorers.

- we will study specific lexis about sea, rainforest, space ....

- and we will think about the future explorations and how they can change our lives.

This will be a year full of adventures and interesting activities we will share on this blog. We hope you like them.
